This documentary looks back at the piece Instrumental Interaction V, a piece for 3 Karlax, ensemble and electronics, composed by Benjamin Lavastre, a Ph.D. researcher at the IDMIL.
The piece was premiered on February 21, 2025, at McGill’s Multimedia Room (MMR) in Montreal as part of the Montreal New Music festival (SMCQ).
The piece brought together performers D. Andrew Stewart, Tom Mays, and Huizi Wang, Ensemble Éclat conducted by Charles-Éric Fontaine, and technical assistants Vincent Cusson and Quentin Lauvray.
This video addresses the challenges in terms of interaction strategies between acoustic and digital instruments. It features interviews with the various protagonists of the project, as well as an interview with Professor Marcelo M. Wanderley.
