Biography:

I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), as well as a PhD in Music from UFMG, including a research period at McGill University. I also studied for one year at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, further developing my artistic training. I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Input Devices and Music Interaction Laboratory (IDMIL), McGill University.

My research focuses on the cognitive, sensory, and psychological mechanisms underlying musical skill acquisition. I am particularly interested in mental practice, self-talk, and motor learning, and in understanding how these processes shape the development of musical expertise. I integrate phenomenological analysis with empirical methods to investigate how psychological skills training can enhance performance in ecologically valid contexts.

Alongside my research, I maintain an active career as a flutist and educator, and my artistic and pedagogical practice continuously informs my scientific work.
