A special issue of the journal Arts (MDPI) entitled “Feeling the Future – Haptic Audio,” edited by Justin Paterson and Marcelo M. Wanderley, has just appeared.

It consists of an editorial, a total of 10 articles, and an interview with Claude Cadoz on force feedback and music research at ACROE, France.

Among the articles, there is a review of the Challenges and Opportunities of Force Feedback in Music, by Christian Frisson and myself.

The material covers both tactile and force-feedback applications to music and the arts. All articles are freely available online.

As part of the editorial, I wrote a short eulogy text for Vincent Hayward, a former McGill professor with ties to the lab (he co-supervised Stephen Sinclair‘s Ph.D. thesis). Vincent, who passed away in mid-May 2023, was a leading haptics researcher and a colleague who will be dearly missed.
