Biography:

Tarcísio Braga (he/him)
Brazilian drummer, percussionist, and improviser.
Assistant Professor of Music at Amazonas State University (UEA) in Manaus, Brazil.
Currently persuing a Doctor of Music (DMus) in percussion at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music.

Tarcísio’s research-creation practice investigates the snare drum and the drum kit as hybrid instruments, integrating acoustic performance, live electronics, real-time processing, and rhythmic traditions from Brazil. Working at the intersection of improvisation, composition, and technological mediation, his work explores timbre, live looping, spatialization, and real-time sound processing.

Tarcisio’s work often incorporates processed field recordings, particularly from the Amazon rainforest, used as immersive sonic environments in multichannel formats. His artistic approach is driven by cross-pollination between tradition, technology, and embodied performance.
